Three ideas explain almost everything on this site. Once you see them, every number you enter will make more sense.
Money grows on its own growth
A = P(1 + r)n
Compounding means each year's return is earned on the previous year's total, not just on what you put in.
₹1,00,000 at 12% for 10 years becomes ₹3.11 lakh.
Small monthly amounts add up
FV = P × [((1+i)n − 1) ÷ i] × (1+i)
A SIP is a stream of small investments, each compounding for a different length of time. The earliest ones do the heavy lifting.
₹10,000 a month at 12% for 20 years becomes ₹99.91 lakh.
Prices quietly shrink your money
Today's value = F ÷ (1 + i)n
Inflation lowers what each rupee can buy. Always judge a future amount by what it will purchase, not by the number alone.
₹1 crore in 20 years at 6% inflation buys what ₹31.18 lakh buys today.

Frequently asked questions
What is MathMyFuture (MMF)?
MathMyFuture, or MMF for short, is a free set of money calculators and learning tools built for people in India. It covers investment returns, savings goals, inflation, asset values and the power of compounding, with answers in rupees, lakh and crore.
Are the calculators free, and do I need to sign up?
They are free and there is nothing to sign up for. The calculators run in your browser, so you can try as many scenarios as you like.
Which calculator should I start with?
If you invest regularly, start with the investment calculator. If you are saving for something specific, use the goal planner. If you worry about rising prices, try the inflation calculator.
Can I use currencies other than rupees?
Yes. Most calculators default to Indian rupees and can also show US dollars, euros, pounds, UAE dirhams, Canadian and Australian dollars and yen.
How accurate are the results?
They are estimates built on the rates you enter. Real returns and inflation change every year, and nothing here accounts for tax or fund costs, so treat the numbers as a way to compare plans rather than a promise.
